Evaluation

The assignment was to create photos, images using freak or unique as the title. I had to make images or photos freaky or unique looking because that was the main brief that I had to follow. I think the brief was something to do with freakiness to get used to montaging images together.

The images that inspired me with this project is the freaky images that I found off the internet. The inspiring images that inspired me was the image of a dog and some-ones face in it, another image that inspired me was an image of a person with a doll face. This inspired me because it made me feel as though I could do something very similar. Also it showed me that the image was a freaky image from the fact that it was more than one image merged together with another image. These were the images that I could recreate because they were simple to recreate and they only used about 2 images joined together.

The characteristics of freaky/unusual photography would be strange, odd and slightly scary looking. I think this because that is what I think freaky images are. They are also images that are unusual because they have strange parts joined together like the baby and doll image. Freaky images to me are images that use more than one image to make one freaky image. They are also freaky if they have some strange, unusual part on them that they wouldn't already like a face growing from the body. This is unusual and freaky because you wouldn't literally have a face growing out of a body.  This is what I think characteristics of a freaky image is.

My ideas that I intended to do was to have a doll and mix it with a person. I didn't do this in the end because I ran out of time to do this. I wrote a proposal for the idea that I wanted to get across. I managed to do and finish my merged final freak or unique piece using photo shop and photography lessons. My idea was to merge a doll and a person together to create a new freaky doll. I quite liked my idea because it would have worked if I finished doing it. It would have been freaky looking also if I did this because of the face or body with a doll. This would have been very unusual which is what I wanted to get across to tell the audience the advert that I wanted to create a doll type advert crossed with something like a dog.



I had to take into account the location of where I would have taken the images, how long it would take me to take the correct and the right number of photos. I also had to take into account the lighting of where I would take the photos. This was hard to sort the lighting because the room that I took the relevant photos in wasn't as great as it probably could have been. I had to set up the camera and the tripod with the backdrop for the lighting to create the descant images. This was because I didn't want the lighting to dark otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the photos, I wanted it to be bright enough so you could see the images.


The editing process that I had to go through was using photo shop to edit my four images. I did this by using levels and curves on the adjustments setting of photo shop. I used photo shop to edit my images because it was the easiest programme to edit the images that I needed to edit. The images of mine that I took that I found the hardest to edit was my images of images. This was because they were images of images. I found it hard to edit because I found it hard to change the colours of the images. I had fun taking photos of photos apart from having this problem.


I haven't got examples of my final advert that I would have liked to do but I have my magazine advert example on my blog. This is because I didn't have time to finish my actual piece so I used my magazine advert. This is because my magazine advert is joined with the two lessons. This is because they are basically the same type of thing. The magazine advert is joined with making the advert. It isn't freaky but more of a unique piece instead of a freaky one. I feel as though the magazine advert has gone very well. It has gone better than I expected it to which is great and amazing.




If I was to do this project again I would change my proposal abit. This is because my proposal didn't fit my actual piece. I ran out of time to make my final piece which would have fitted my proposal. I have learnt from my first assignment that I need to keep up with time and do things on time. This is because otherwise  I would be behind work which I don't want to be. I think next time I do another assignment I should keep my proposal identical/ slightly different to my actual piece so it fits. Otherwise it looks slightly strange and odd.


I have learnt some new skills whilst I have had Photography. I have enjoyed the lessons because I have managed to learn new skills that I didn't think I would be able to. I have liked learning how a simple photography camera is used with all of the techniques and buttons on the camera. I have loved using the camera and the tripods because it gave me new skills to  get the grips of when taking simple photos using a camera.

I have made some images using the camera that I am very proud of. In my opinion my favourite piece of work that I have done is probably the mixed piece of work. This is because I have emerged a photo shop lesson and a  photography lesson together to create a montage/magazine advert image. I like this image because it shows a few skills that I have learnt throughout the weeks. Also it shows how well I can work when I have a time pressure which is great practise for the future.

Throughout this course I have learnt what A,S,M and P means. They mean Apature, Speed, Manual and Program. I didn't know that the cameras have these dials, letters on them which indicates a new skill of the cameras.

Video work evidence

This is the storyboard for my advert, we used this as a group. We only had 3 scenes on the storyboard because there is only 3 main scenes to add for our advert. This worked well as a group.

 

This is the brainstorm that my group used for the product. There is two because there was two brainstorms in my group. It wasn't just ideas for main advert tit was other notes such as how a advert works, a few adverts. That sort of thing that worked well.

Photography research freka or unique x2

This image is freaky because it shows human mouths and eyes onto someone's foot which looks freaky. It kind of makes a doctor who alien because of the way the two images are merged together

This image is very freaky. I find it quite strange as well and disturbing. It kind of shows a human baby merged with a elephant. This part is on the nose which looks more animal like than a human. I don't particularly like this image because I find this very strange and odd. It is cute in a way because it shows an unusual baby 

This freaky image shows a spider or fly combined with a human. This is kind of a weird photo but it isn't as freaky as the above image. It kind of feels like a toy story character, one of Sid's unusual toys as he breaks and changes his toys  for more unusual and freaky type toys. This is the image that reminds me of this

This image shows an elephant and a butterfly or moth combined. I quite like this image because it shows a new animal that has been combined, It isn't as freaky as the other photos that I have but it is still a little freaky. This image is probably the more peaceful one out of all 10

I find this freaky image quite disturbing because of the eye underneath the mans head. This gives me the creeps of the man and the eye under him. It looks real. I don't think it is but it looks sickly and disgusting.  

This image shows a combined image between a human and a hand. This is kind of a freaky image because you wouldn't normally add a face to a hand, which is very bizarre to me

I don't think this image is a freaky image. I kind of think it is cute. The only freaky part that I find is freaky is the mouth but the rest of it is very cute. I find the mouth creepy because who would add a human mouth to a cute dog. That is the only part of the image that I find creepy. This image is my favourite out of the 10 that I found because it looks like my dog. It is exactly like my dog because my dog is a beagle type dog, this image is like my dogs twin because the face is right minus the mouth. I love this image and my dog.

Print Advert Evaluation

I have made a photography and a photo-shop joined advert. I made this as a magazine advert. I enjoyed doing this and I thought that it went well. I produced a magazine advert to do with  Doctor Who because I had a live sized Tardis that I photographed and Owain said that I should use the Tardis to make an advert so I joined his lesson and Mark's together to create one advert between the lessons. The only thing that I researched was doctor who music because that is the only thing that I felt I needed to research for the advert. I had the main product I just needed some music. I would have used green screen because it would add more effect. I would use green screen by having Matt Smith(11) as the doctor alongside the actor or actress on the green screen to add the doctor who effect. This would add a great effect. The actor or actress would be doing exactly what Matt Smith does on  the screen to add more effect.

The skills that I learnt with Photography and photo-shop is merging two images together. I have always learnt as a skill how to cut images out by using different tools. I didn't know there is so much to photo- shop that I dint/don't know which is interesting to discover. I have enjoyed using photo shop I would just prefer in the future not to use photo shop because there are some parts of photo shop that I don't like, like adding images onto an image using layers and cutting out  an image because I end up deleting the whole image that I don't  want to be deleted which is irritating and annoying. This is the only part of photo shop that I don't like. I like using photo shop for making videos that I discovered last year because you can slow down a frame and it is just generally fun to use a programme to create videos.

For my final piece I have done a proposal to do with having a doll with my face and my dogs face in the dolls head creating a freaky image and advert. My magazine advert however has a doctor who theme for a doctor who advert as I like Doctor who. I feel as though the doctor who advert on photo shop has gone very well. I have planned in my head the doctor who advert with the music and the green screen that I feel is going to be a very goo advert. If I was going to make this advert I would have to use green screen quite a lot to get the doctor scenes, and the main effect that I would like to get across form the advert. As it is a doctor who advert you cant not have the doctor in the advert. This would not add the drama. This also would not make the advert what the advert is because the doctor would not be in the advert and he is a key and the main(title) character.

I  wouldn't change anything if I was going to do this again. I wouldn't change any part of my magazine advert because I like the overall finalize piece. I feel as though I have done a good enough job on the advert that I don't need to change anything. If I was to change I would feel as though the advert has been lost with the main character which is the opposite that I would like. I might change the target audience which is any age from people who are doctor who fans to any age because at the moment only people who like doctor who can enjoy the advert(product) and I would like anyone to enjoy the advert even though it is a doctor who advert.

Video Production Advert Evaluation

As a group we produced and made an advert to do with the brief of freak or unique. It was about 15-30 seconds. We had fun filming it. I enjoyed being part of the advert because it meant that I could act for the advert without having an dialogue/talking in the advert, with hopefully just music in the background. The advert that me and my group produced was a drink called Dark Skullz. This consisted of a coke can being used for the Advert. I had to actually drink the drink that I wasn't expecting to. This has to have one take because it was a can and cans can only be opened once.

As a group we researched different coke adverts to get the main idea for the advert. I was the one who was drinking the coke because I was the main character(protagonist) for the Advert. I did a bit of research on my own. This research was some freaky, horror music that I could use for the group advert. I thought that the music that I researched was right and suited the advert because it was horror like and freaky like. The main piece of music that I thought was suitable for this was Michael Jackson Thriller because of the horror parts form that. I think that the door part at the beginning and the end of the song could work well with the advert. The part of the Advert I feel it should be part of is the part when I am running away from  the ghost up the stairs  or the part where I trip over in a corridor.

The skills that I learnt from doing this was how to use a video camera and how to act safety for the non speaking advert. I was not the person who was doing the camera things. Elliot was on the camera. I was doing the acting for the main character who appears in all of the scenes which I enjoyed and I loved playing a main character. I also learnt how to put up a tripod as a group that was useful. I feel that the final piece has gone very well. This is because the whole of my group worked well together and we each shared ideas of what could happen in the advert. We also made sure that all of us made sure we knew who was doing what and when. This turned out very well. If I was to do my doctor who magazine advert by filming it I would use the same group as this project because we all communicated well and the characters would work well.

If I was to do the project again I don't think I would change anything. I think the whole project/advert went well. If I had to change one thing I would change who does the camera. I would make sure all of my group would have a chance to use the camera, to film each scene, little part that needs filming so we all get used to the video camera/ Overall I enjoyed using the camera and I enjoyed working as a group to making the advert. It turned out very well with the different effects that was added just by using the camera and the  actors. I would love to go through the project all over again, changing just the little parts for the advert. I enjoyed the slogan. This is going to be put at the end of the advert hopefully alongside the coke can(product) because it is a great slogan. I feel that the making of the slogan went well because I enjoyed and I liked drawing the slogan. The best part of this was drawing the block writing part  of the slogan. I enjoyed using colours to add the effect of horror and freakiness. It turned out very well.

Photography Proposal

Proposal:

My proposal idea for my photography freak or unique is to have the Doctors Tardis, well one half of the Tardis with a doll peaking out of it. I would like there to be a picture of my dog and myself in the image as well. They would all be part of the Tardis, the half of the Tardis. This would make it look freaky or unique. I haven't decided which one it will be yet. It will probably be more unique then freaky but it will fit the brief. I would like to use the Doctors Tardis because I feel as though it would work well with the brief. I would like to use a doll, my face and my dogs face because they would fit the brief also. I was thinking of having the Tardis, one half with my dogs face and my face on one image, I would then use the doll to put the dogface combined with my face on the dolls head. Then I would put the body of the doll with the combined dog and my face next to the tardis creating a freaky image. This would work perfectly and really well. I am going to enjoy making this and editing it so it looks 3d.

 

I would bring in the doll to photograph or do it at home to add to my idea. I already have 3 images of the 3 objects that I could use so I wont need to photograph those again, I can just use the same images to create a more freaky or unique image using photo shop.

 

I feel as though my freak or unique project should have a backstory, story to it. The story is that the doll lost her head along with me loosing my body and my dog loosing her body, and all three parts of each photo(images) then get combined becoming one person alongside the Tardis that has lost one half. The now combined image will be next to the Tardis as if  it is theirs. This would create a freaky image and a unique image with the Tardis.

 

This image would be like this but with a dolls body instead of a humans. There would be the below image recreated onto the doll body. Well the body to my doll that I have at home. This would be a great freaky and unique advert with research recreations for my advert.  The main part of the advert would be the doll part because that is the freaky part, the Tardis is juts the unique part. I might even cut the Tardis and just have the doll that would look freaky and it would use this research for the advert. I think I might just use the doll to advertise instead of using the Tardis because the doll would show the freaky side to the Tardis. I think I would have a before image of the ordinary doll and then after with the freaky version. This would advertise that you can freak the doll yourself. The advert comes with a normal doll with accessories but then you can freakarize it  yourself, with the freaky image as the after image. There would be the different parts for you to freakarize like the head of the dog and human(this would change according to your liking), there would also be different normal accessories that the doll would come that you can change like shoes that will stay like that but you can freakarize the doll yourself.

This would be advertising a freaky human, dog doll with half a Tardis. I feel as though this would work well because it would use the freaky images of the doll and a unique image of  the Tardis. I would be using both the titles of my brief of freak and unique. This would make the project very good to make because it would use a lot of techniques to make the freaky and unique image. I think it is going to be a great advert once it has been done and finalised.



I would use this to represent the doll part of my freaky or unique advert. This would be using research which is a great idea. This also gives me the idea that I would like to recreate this image for my freak or unique advert.
 

 

Photography editing Evaluation

The things that I like about this image is that it looks 3d. It stands out from the rest of the image. The background shows and adds the effect that there is something behind the purse image when there isn't really. To improve this image I could of cut out the shadowing. This is because this spoils the image. It would have been a good image if I got rid of the shadow. I could have used the pen tool to cut around the image deleting the shadowing.  The tools that I used to edit the image was the levels and curves tool. I used this for all of the images. The level tool and curves tool is in adjustments. I changed the lighting and the brightness of the image to make it better to see. I also made it a better quality. I changed the levels on the image by changing the arrow from left to right to the right quality. I used this to the beginning of when the graph went up. The curves tool was used in the same way by dragging the arrow to  the beginning of the graph going up and changing the brightness and lighting from there.

I like this image because it captures my selfie perfectly. I like the background that I got whilst taking the selfie. The problem that I had with this image is that it is wonky. I could have straightened the image before taking the photo but I was in a slight rush. I love the background and the lighting behind the image. I feel as though I have got my selfie perfect with the lighting and background as well as the quality of the camera. I love my hairstyle in this image as I took the image.  If I was to do this again I would change the wonkiness of the image. I would straighten up the image do it is a better quality. I didn't crop this image or change any parts of the image because the quality of the whole image is a good quality anyway.

I like this image because of the quality of the image. The final quality. I like the fact that the Tardis is on a white background. This kind of shows that the Tardis is flying or landing on a planet from the actual TV Series Doctor Who.  The only problem that there is with this image is that the shadow is in the way. This spoils the image because it is a good quality without the shadow in the background. I used the curves tool and the levels tool to move the arrow. I moved the arrows on these tools to the high point of the graph. This is to get a better quality photo. I like the image otherwise. If I was to improve this image I would get rid of the shadow because it spoils and ruins the image. This image kinds of tells you a little bit of myself, it shows and tells that I like Doctor Who. That I have an obsession with the picture and image of the Tardis. This links with my magazine advert because I made an advert using this image and it is about Doctor Who because the theme fits.   

I like this image because I have captured my dog very well. This was original an image so it was harder to edit this image. I also like this image because of the writing that I used to create my image. I used the levels and curves on photo shop to make this image a better quality. I like the edited version better because of the quality that it has created. It shows the main image and not all the background which hides the image a bit. The edited version shows the image of my dog. I have taken a photo of Daisy, and I have edited it. The brightness and contrast that the levels and curves used shows a brighter image of Daisy and a better quality. I have chosen this image of Daisy because this image suits what I wanted to get from the image. It also highlights that this is a cute version of Daisy. This is one of my favourite images because of the way that Daisy is looking at the camera and the way that her position is. She is sitting down and looking at me as I took the photo. She made her ears floppy(which is natural for her), I then took this image. I love this image because it shows the cuteness behind the dog. In a way it reveals the personality of the dog as she stares and looks into the camera with a cute position and her ears being a softie. It feels as though she is being a softie because of the way her ears are floppy and natural, also the way that she looks at you through the camera shows that she is a lovely dog. It also shows how much she loves me and how much I love her.

Magazine Advert

Today I have made an advert for a magazine. I used photo shop to make the advert so I could do all the different layers and add images to the advert. I like my work because I have done an advert on a programme that I love. I also like this advert because of the main object for the advert and all the background that follows. I have done an advert on doctor who because I like the programme and I thought it would be different if I did an advert on Doctor Who. I wanted to be unique by making an advert on a programme that I enjoy.


If this was a recording/film I would add the doctor who theme to the advert. This is because it experiences life as the doctor.  This would be playing with the Tardis flying through the air, the big one(green screen)  and the Tardis  adventure of the Doctor and Clara. I love the whole advert including the logo next to the price tag.

I have added all of the doctors to my advert because it shows that the doctor character is an important part of the advert. It also shows how many regenerations he has done.  He is the important character because he is the title character.
The doctor who theme and action theme tune/music would be perfect for this advert. I think I would also add a voice- over and a song wake up from the episode rings of akhaten. This would suit the advert perfectly. There would be an actor or actress doing  the voice-over and I will be doing the singing possibly.

The logo on the chocolate bar is called " Doctor Bar". I have chosen the word Doctor Bar because it fits the theme and the rest of the advert. Also the lettering and word is perfect for the name because it is about the doctor. The chocolate bar has a backstory of the 11th doctor finding the chocolate bar from his enemy The Cybermen, he then runs with his life bar showing the audience as he runs with it,  who has taken his life. He then finds his life bar on his home planet of Gallifrey. he is looking concerned and shocked as the doctor does.    He then eats it and experiences more life. just through the titles, credits and part of the advert. It will have the title  starring: Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman and whoever the girl or boy is. The credits will say exactly the same but with the full cast:

This theme tune music would be playing right the way through the beginning with the Doctor and the end with the Doctor. It wont be playing during the girl or boys life. life. The doctor will return to the girl/boy as normal  he then returns as the Doctor and walks away to his Life with Clara and Gallifrey. The girl or boy wakes and shows advert.  The chocolate bar will be at the beginning and the end of the advert.


Story/back story of Advert:

At the beginning of the advert  I would have Matt Smith as the doctor and an actor or actress for the advert part. At the very beginning you see the chocolate bar and the real doctor doing his dangerous life as always, he is chasing his life bar.  Then he finds his life bar on his home planet of Gallifrey. He picks it up and carries it off to a young girl or boys house. The girl/boy is shocked to see a Tardis land in their house. The Doctor steps out of the Tardis and gives the boy or girl his life bar. The girl or boy takes the chocolate bar. The doctor then disappears. The doctor gives the girl or boy the chocolate bar and says: " Take my Life"(Voice over)  The boy or girl takes a bite (a piece) from the chocolate bar , not looking at the camera. They then fall on the ground and the shot ends. The next shot is of the girl or boy standing next to the Doctor and the Tardis.  Music is playing through this. They experience life as the Doctor. (green screen) They are being chased by aliens/monsters beside the Doctor. They soon become best friends. (green screen) The next shot is of the girl or boy back in their  home. They  fall/collapses on the floor. The doctor disappears and is out of the shot. The Doctor then re enters and tries to wake the girl or boy to the music of Wake up from the Doctor Who episode Rings of Akhaten. Whilst the song is playing the chorus part, the girl or boy wakes up beside the Doctor.(green screen)  They are back to normal size. The doctor then disappears for the whole scene. The girl or boy soon discovers that they are back as their normal selves. They soon see the Tardis and the chocolate bar on the table. The girl/boy picks up the mini tardis. They discover that it was just a dream, but the girl or boy knows it was real. The girl or boy realizes that their experience was real. The girl or boys parent enters looking confused. They don't believe the experience of their daughter but the girl/ boy does. Its a story to them.  After the girl or boy discovers that they are no longer experiencing the doctors life, they are happy but sad. (Flashback of the girl or boy as the doctor along side the Doctor) (Green screen). Then the girl or boy picks up the bar. The followed shot captures just the bar and the name. Then the girl eats the chocolate bar(A piece) whilst facing the camera. The camera captures the chocolate bar and the girl or boy eating it. The girl or boy then looks very happy after they have experienced the doctors life. The shot and main advert ends. The end shot is of the Doctor running from an alien and the Tardis flying through the air again, and the chocolate bar is with the Doctor.  His normal life with no assistant. He is with his Companion Clara, music is playing through this. ( green screen) At the end the girl or boy looks at the mini Tardis and laughs in happiness as they know what happened. The camera focuses on the mini Tardis again with the flashback(green screen). Then the camera focuses on the chocolate bar with the logo(Doctor Bar). The girl or boy eats another piece of the bar and then the advert ends.  It ends with the slogan and the experience of the girl or boy eating the bar.  The slogan and product appears on the screen , a plain white or coloured background. There is a voice over of the slogan " Experience the Doctor's Life, become the doctor", Doctor Bar!  It then rolls straight into the credits of the Tardis and the doctor flying through Space before the end credits. My favourite part of the advert idea is the backstory and Advert idea because it is about a programme I love very much. It uses good techniques such as green screen and different camera shots as well  as having a voice over. I would love to film this because then I can sue the green screen for the doctor parts that I would like to use. This is because any background can be put onto green screen ready so it looks realistic. I love the backstory that I have done to my Advert because it shows that there is a story to the Advert. The story is basic and simple but the green screen will make things better and more complicated. The music I feel would work very well because it fits the scenario as it is form the programme. My Advert here goes somewhere, sometimes Adverts don't have a story line but my advert has the perfect storyline. In this Advert it shows the story of the chocolate bar and where it came from. This advert also shows the journey of the doctor's bar going through his life, his home to a girl or boy who then experiences the doctor for themselves. They are dressed exactly alike, except the girl or boy is wearing ordinary clothes and a sonic screwdriver(only for experiencing the doctors life)
